Phong Trào Duy Tân Và Những Bài Học Cho Thế Kỷ 21

Lịch SửLê Quế Lâm

The Duy Tân movement represented one of the most significant intellectual and political reform efforts in modern Vietnamese history. Emerging in the early 1900s under French colonial rule, it sought to modernize Vietnamese society through education, economic development, and cultural renewal rather than armed resistance alone.

The movement's leaders, including Phan Châu Trinh and Huỳnh Thúc Kháng, argued that genuine independence required first building the internal capacity of Vietnamese society — literacy, civic awareness, and economic self-sufficiency. Their writings circulated widely through newspapers and pamphlets, reaching educated readers across the country.

Decades later, the questions they raised about the relationship between cultural reform and political change remain unresolved and urgently relevant.
